Wipe stop in general
The wipe stop function serves to ensure that, when the engine hood is opened, the master wiper motor (M6/6) is not actuated by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and therefore the slave wiper motor (M6/7) is also not actuated.
Wipe stop function sequence
If an open engine hood is recognized via the ATA engine hood switch (S62), the corresponding wipe function is interrupted immediately.
The wipe stop function is canceled upon closing the ATA [EDW] engine hood switch, i.e. the wiper motor is actuated again.
The position of the combination switch is read in by the steering column tube module (N80) and placed on the chassis CAN. The central gateway control unit (N93) routes the combination switch request to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
The front SAM control unit receives the signal for the vehicle speed from the instrument cluster (A1). The central gateway control unit routes the vehicle speed to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
The open engine hood is recognized by the ATA [EDW] engine hood switch. The signal from the ATA [EDW] engine hood switch is read in by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and transmitted to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
