COMAND, general
The COMAND controller unit is the central control for the entertainment and communication systems integrated into the vehicle.
The COMAND controller unit communicates over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) with the following control units:
- Sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with code (810) Sound system)
- Digital TV tuner (A90/3)
- Media interface control unit (N125/1)
The COMAND controller unit acts as a gateway. It routes the signals from the interior CAN (CAN B) to the components of the telematics CAN (CAN A) and the MOST and thus forms the communications interface. The displays and menu presentations for the Audio/ COMAND display (A40/8) are generated in the COMAND controller unit. The following applications are also displayed in the instrument cluster (A1) at the same time as being displayed in the Audio/ COMAND display:
