M40/1 Active multicontour seat pneumatic pump

Location
The active multicontour seat pneumatic pump (M40/1) is located at the left rear in the trunk behind the luggage compartment trim.
For vehicles with code (810) Sound system the active multicontour seat pneumatic pump (M40/1) is installed behind the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3).

Tasks
- Compressed air supply of active multicontour seat system
- Pressure monitoring of the reservoir by means of a sensor
- Switch on/off of internal solenoid valve for compressed air supply
- Leakage detection of pneumatic systems
- Automatic shut off of compressed air supply after 60 sec continuous operation of pneumatic pump for the active multicontour seat
- Overpressure run of pneumatic system and subsequent actuation of solenoid valve on pressure tank for draining compression moisture in pressure tank

- Pressure sensor in pneumatic pump for active multicontour seat

Interior CAN (CAN B)
- Signals from left front active multicontour seat control unit (N32/19)
- Signals from right front active multicontour seat control unit (N32/22) (except code (494) USA version)

Evaluation of input factors
The read in input factors are evaluated by the pneumatic pump for active multicontour seat (M40/1). The pneumatic pump is actuated accordingly.

Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
^ Direct internal line

- Actuation of the solenoid valve to expel compression moisture in the composite pressure vessel
No components are actuated over the Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN) from the active multicontour seat pneumatic pump. Only information on further processing steps and information for other control units is sent to the interior CAN.
