N32/2 Front passenger seat control unit

Location
The front passenger seat control unit (N32/2) is located at the bottom of the front passenger seat frame.

Task
- Control of seat adjustment in accordance with the requests sent over the interior CAN (CAN B)
- Storing of the memory adjustments for the front passenger seat
- Control of head restraint presetting
- Memory request of the adjusted pressures for each memory position for the active multicontour seat (with code (432) Active multicontour seat)
- Control of collision avoidance with bench seat in rear (vehicles with code (287) Through-loading feature)
- Actuating PRE-SAFE(R) positioning function for front passenger seat

The tasks are subdivided as follows:
^ Reading in of sensors and signals
^ Evaluating input factors
^ Actuation of components

Reading in of sensors and signals
These input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
- Circuit 30
- Tml. 31

The following sensors are read in via direct lines:

Hall sensors of the seat adjustment motors
- Hall sensor for seat fore/aft adjustment, front passenger seat (M28/1b1)
- Hall sensor for height adjustment, front passenger seat (M28/2b1)
- Hall sensor seat adjustment, motor inclination adjustment, front passenger seat (M28/3b1)
- Hall sensor for head restraint adjustment, front passenger seat (M28/4b1)
- Hall sensor for backrest inclination, front passenger seat (M28/5b1)

Interior CAN
- Left front seat adjustment switch group (S22) by left front door control unit (N69/1) (right-hand drive vehicle)
- Right front seat adjustment switch group (S23) by right front door control unit (N69/2) (left-hand drive vehicle)
- Left rear backrest inclination switch (S54/5) or right rear backrest inclination switch (S54/6) from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) (vehicles with code (287) Through- loading feature)
- Signals for PRE-SAFE positioning function provided by Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) (vehicles without code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS) or by Electronic Stability Program Premium control unit (N30/7) (vehicles with code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS) on chassis CAN (CAN E), routed by front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) onto interior CAN (CAN B) and sent to the front passenger seat control unit (N32/1).
- Left rear backrest lock switch (S54/7) or right rear backrest lock switch (S54/8) from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) (vehicles with code (287) Through-loading feature)
- Information on the adjusted seat positions for each storage of the memory positions for the active multicontour seat (with code (432) Active multicontour seat)

The PRE-SAFE(R) positioning function of the passenger seat is described in the separate "PRE-SAFE(R)" function description.
The signals are read in/transmitted by the front passenger seat control unit. The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic for corresponding system).

Evaluation of input factors
The read in input factors are evaluated by the front passenger seat control unit. The seat adjustment motors are actuated via integrated relays.

Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The following motors are actuated via direct lines:
- Front passenger seat fore/aft adjustment motor (M28/1)
- Front passenger seat height adjustment motor (M28/2)
- Front passenger seat inclination adjustment motor (M28/3)
- Front passenger seat head restraint adjustment motor (M28/4)
- Front passenger seat backrest inclination adjustment motor (M28/5)

Interior CAN
- Commands for adjusting each stored specified value for the air pressure of the individual air cushions on each of the memory positions for the active multicontour seat to the right front active multicontour seat control unit (N32/22) (left-hand drive vehicles) or the left front active multicontour seat control unit (N32/19) (right-hand drive vehicles) (with code (432) Active multicontour seat)

Variants
There are no variants for the hardware of the front passenger seat control unit. The country or left-hand drive vehicle/right hand drive vehicle allocation is software coded.
