AR01.00-P-2410-02ELB Disconnect Engine Wiring Harness

Remove air duct (2); unclip clamping springs (1) to do this.
Detach ground line (3) from on-board electrical system battery (G1) and place to one side.
Insulate connecting point for ground line (3) to avoid unintended contact of detached ground line (3) with the on-board electrical system battery (G1) ground point.

Only perform operation steps 3 to 23 for removal of the engine.

Detach cap (4) for positive battery terminal (5) from on-board electrical system battery (G1).
Detach protective cap (6a) from positive line (6).
Detach positive line (6) from positive terminal clamp (7).
Detach positive terminal clamp (7) from positive battery terminal (5) at the on-board electrical system battery (G1).
Detach electrical connection (8) from positive terminal clamp (7).
Detach weather strip (9) from suspension strut tower and center section of the bulkhead (78) and remove.
Unclip electrical line (11) from retaining clamp (12).
Unclip electrical line (11) from center section of the bulkhead (78).
Unclip bracket (17) for the electrical line (11) on center section of the bulkhead (78) and lay aside electrical line (11) on the engine.
Detach electrical line (13) for alternator on prefuse box at the front (F32) and lay on the engine.
Remove upper engine cover.
Detach electrical lines (14, 15) on ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).
Disconnect electrical line (16) at the electrical connection on engine.
Lay electrical lines (15, 16) to the side in the engine compartment.

.1 Vehicles with 4MATIC: detach ground line on suspension strut tower.
.2 Vehicles without 4MATIC: detach ground line (33) on transmission (36).
Disconnect electrical line (32) from intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT (A80)
Detach electrical connector (34) on electric transmission oil pump (M42)
Detach shield (35) from transmission (36) and disconnect electrical connection on electric controller unit.
Unclip electrical line (32) on transmission (36) and set aside
Disconnect electrical line (37) on electric power steering for actuator motor(A91m1).
Unclip electrical line (32) on front axle carrier and lay outside the working area.

Unclip electrical connector for left oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter (G3/3x1), right oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter (G3/4x1), left oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter (G3/5x1) and right oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter (G3/6x1) from the retaining clamps on transmission and disconnect.

Only perform operation steps 25 to 33 for removal of cylinder head covers or rails.

Disconnect electrical connections on LH intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/4) and on LH exhaust camshaft solenoid (Y49/6) or RH intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/5) and on RH exhaust camshaft solenoid (Y49/7).
Disconnect electrical connections on LH intake camshaft Hall sensor (B6/4) and on LH exhaust camshaft Hall sensor (B6/6) or RH intake camshaft Hall sensor (B6/5) and on LH exhaust camshaft Hall sensor (B6/7).
Disconnect electrical connectors at the ignition coils (T1).
Disconnect electrical connectors to fuel injectors (Y76).

Detach ground line (24) from cylinder head cover.
When removing the right cylinder head cover or right rail.
Disconnect connector on fuel pressure and temperature sensor (B4/25).
When removing the right cylinder head cover or right rail.
Detach engine wiring harness (21) on the rail.
Installation: Ensure correct seating of the retaining clips (23) on the rail.
Detach guide rail (25) for engine wiring harness (21) on the cylinder head cover and the intake manifold.
Lay engine wiring harness (21) aside.
