GF91.60-P-1100FQU Passenger-Side Seat Occupied Recognition Function

GF91.60-P-1100FQU Passenger-side Seat Occupied Recognition Function
MODEL 218
- with CODE (494) USA version

Function requirements, general
^ Circuit 15R ON

The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) sends the status or circuit 15R over the chassis CAN (CAN E) to the Supplemental Restraint System control unit (N2/10).

Passenger-side seat occupied recognition, general
The passenger-side seat occupied recognition detects whether the front passenger seat is occupied.
The passenger-side seat occupied recognition function consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Function sequence for front passenger seat occupied recognition
^ Function sequence for outputting status and fault messages

Function sequence for front passenger seat occupied recognition
Occupation of the front passenger seat by a person or a child seat is determined by the weight, which is applied to the front passenger seat.
The weight applied to the front passenger seat is determined by means of a pressure measurement of the seat occupied recognition pressure sensor (B48/4) in a seat mat filled with silicone. The force applied by the seat belt is measured by the belt tension sensor (B48/3) to correct the weight classification.
These two values enable the Weight Sensing System (WSS) control unit (N110) to classify the weight applied. The Weight Sensing System (WSS) control unit sends the corresponding information over the interior CAN (CAN B) to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). The front SAM control unit routes the information over the chassis CAN to the Supplemental Restraint System control unit (N2/10).
The following conditions are defined depending on the weight classification:
- Seat not occupied:
The passenger airbag, passenger sidebag and the emergency tensioning retractor are switched off.
- Seat occupied:
Low weight (e.g. child seat) and seat belt fastened:
The passenger airbag is switched off.
- Person detected:
The required restraint equipment is enabled.

Function sequence for outputting status and fault messages
The output of status and fault messages consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Function sequence for actuating the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp (N72/1e1)
^ Function sequence for outputting fault messages

Function sequence for actuating the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp
If the front passenger seat is found to be unoccupied, the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp in the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) is switched on.
If a front passenger seat is recognized to be occupied, the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp is switched off.
If a light weight (child seat) is detected and the seat belt fastened, the automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp is also switched on.

Function sequence for outputting fault messages
Faults or malfunctions that occur during the seat occupied recognition are sent by the weight sensing system control unit via interior CAN to the instrument cluster (A1) which shows a corresponding message in the multifunction display (A1p13).
