GF91.29-P-5231FQ Component Description For Driver Seat Control Unit
MODEL 218
- with CODE (275) Memory package for electrically adjustable front seats

Shown on left seat

N32/1 Driver seat control unit

Location
The driver seat control unit (N32/1) is located at the bottom of the driver seat frame.

Task
- Control of the seat and steering column adjustment to match the requests over the interior CAN (CAN B)
- Storing the memory settings for seat, steering column, and outside mirror
- Memory request of the adjusted pressures for each memory position for the active multicontour seat (with code (432) Active multicontour seat)
- Control of the easy entry/exit feature
- Actuation of the crash-active easy exit function
- Control of head restraint presetting
- Control of collision avoidance with bench seat in rear (vehicles with code (287) Through-loading feature)

The steering column adjustment is described in the separate "Electrically adjustable steering column" function description.
The easy entry/exit function is described in the separate "Easy entry/exit steering column adjustment" function.
The crash-active easy exit function is described in the separate "Triggering supplemental restraint system" function description

The driver seat control unit tasks are split up as follows:
^ Reading in of sensors and signals
^ Evaluating input factors
^ Actuation of components

Reading in of sensors and signals
These input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
- Circuit 30
- Tml. 31

The following sensors are read in via direct lines:

Hall sensors of seat adjustment motors and steering column adjustment motors
- Hall sensor for seat fore/aft adjustment, driver seat (M27/1b1)
- Hall sensor for height adjustment, driver seat (M27/2b1)
- Hall sensor for inclination adjustment, driver seat (M27/3b1)
- Hall sensor for head restraint adjustment, driver seat (M27/4b1)
- Hall sensor for backrest inclination, driver seat (M27/5b1)
- Hall sensor for steering column forward and back (20/1b1)
- Hall sensor for steering column up and down (20/2b1)

Interior CAN
- Left front switch group, seat adjustment (S22) from the left front door control unit (N69/1) (left-hand drive vehicle)
- Right front switch group, seat adjustment (S23) from right front door control unit (N69/2) (right-hand drive vehicles)
- Status of left rear backrest inclination switch (S54/5) or right rear backrest inclination switch (S54/6) from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) (vehicles with code (287) Through-loading feature)
- Status of left rear backrest lock switch (S54/7) or right rear backrest lock switch (S54/8) from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) (vehicles with code (287) Through- loading feature)
- Information on the adjusted seat positions for each storage of the memory positions for the active multicontour seat (with code (432) Active multicontour seat)
- Signals for crash-active easy exit function routed from the supplemental restraint system control unit (N2/10) over the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) to the interior CAN (CAN B) and on to the driver seat control unit.
- Steering column adjustment switch (S59) by front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)

First, the signals from the steering column adjustment switch are placed on the chassis CAN (CAN E) by the steering column tube module control unit (N80) and read in by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module.
The signals are read in/transmitted by the driver seat control unit.
The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors
The read in input factors are evaluated by the driver seat control unit.
The motors for seat and steering column adjustment are actuated via integrated relays.

Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The following motors are actuated via direct lines:
- Steering column in/out adjustment motor (M20/1)
- Steering column up/down adjustment motor (M20/2)
- Driver seat fore/aft adjustment motor (M27/1)
- Driver seat height adjustment motor (M27/2)
- Driver seat inclination adjustment motor (M27/3)
- Driver seat head restraint adjustment motor (M27/4)
- Driver seat backrest inclination adjustment motor (M27/5)

Interior CAN
- Signals for actuating the memory positions of the outside mirrors to the left front door control unit (N69/1) and right front door control unit (N69/2)
- Commands for adjusting each stored air pressure for the individual air cushions on each of the memory positions for the active multicontour seat to the left front active multicontour seat control unit (N32/19) (left-hand drive vehicles) or the right front active multicontour seat control unit (N32/22) (right-hand drive vehicles) (with code (432) Active multicontour seat)

Variants
There are no variants for the hardware of the driver seat control unit.
The country or left-hand drive vehicle/right hand drive vehicle allocation is software coded.
