Component Identification:

Location
The dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump (M40/1) is located on the rear left in the trunk behind the trunk side paneling.

On vehicles with code (810) Sound system the dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump (M40/1) is installed behind the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3).

Tasks
- Compressed air supply of dynamic multicontour seat system
- Pressure monitoring of the reservoir by means of a sensor
- Compressed air supply internal solenoid switch on/off
- Leakage detection of pneumatic systems
- Automatic shut off of compressed air supply after 60 sec continuous operation of pneumatic pump for the multicontour seat
- Overpressure run of air-operated system, for draining compression moisture in composite pressure vessel through a pressure relief valve mounted on the container
- Actuation of the solenoid valve to expel compression moisture in the composite pressure vessel

Reading in of sensors and signals
These input factors are read in via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN (CAN B)

The following sensors are read in via direct internal lines:
- Pressure sensor in pneumatic pump for dynamic multicontour seat

Interior CAN (CAN B)
- Signals from left front dynamic multicontour seat control unit (N32/19)
- Signals from right front dynamic multicontour seat control unit (N32/22)

Evaluation of input factors
The read in input factors are evaluated by the pneumatic pump for dynamic multicontour seat (M40/1). Actuation of the pneumatic pump is accomplished accordingly.

Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
^ Direct internal line

- Actuation of the solenoid valve to expel compression moisture in the composite pressure vessel

Components are not actuated by the dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump via the Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus). Only information on further processing steps and information for other control units is sent to the interior CAN.
