Rear bumper sticks out in area of rear lamp (picture 1)

Cause:





Too much play between bracket for bumper and rear lamp (picture 2)

Thermal expansion causes the bumper sticks out in the area of the rear lamp

Remedy:
The play between the rear lamp and the bumper must be eliminated. To this end, film is stuck onto the bracket of the bumper:

1. Measure protrusion to rear lamp on specified measuring points for determining the amount of film required

2. Remove bumper

3. Determine amount of film to be glued on:





- S212: Measurement 35 mm from tip of bumper (picture 3)





- C218: Measurement 70 mm from tip of bumper (picture 4)

Amount of film = Protrusion (mm) / 0.3 (mm) --> Film thickness is approx. 0.3 mm





4. Glue chafe protective film onto bracket to eliminate any play between the rear lamp and rib on the bumper. (Figure 5)

Note:
The bonding surfaces must be clean and free of grease

5. Mount bumper again
