Complaint:

Wheel well liners in engine compartment heavily soiled (Pic 1)

Attachments

Cause:

Vehicles with air suspension and steel suspension have the same size opening in the wheel well liner. As the diameter of the steel spring is smaller than the diameter of the air spring, vehicles with steel spring therefore have a larger opening, which allows more dirt to enter (Pic 2).

Remedy:
Fit dirt-repellent foam pieces on the wheel well liners.

The following work description applies for the right and left sides:

1. Detach front section of wheel well liner and thoroughly clean the marked area (Pic 3).

Note:
The bonding surface must be free of grease for the subsequent gluing of the foam piece.

2. Clean top of wheel well liner.

3. Glue in foam, starting at the top (Pic 4). Make sure that the foam lies snugly against the flange and is glued on flush in the direction of the suspension spring (Pic 5 and Pic 6).

4. Reinstall wheel well liner and check the position of the foam piece. The foam must stand straight on the wheel well liner (Pic 7).
