3 Open cover of glove compartment (13).
4 Route iPod wiring harness (8) in glove compartment (13) and route black iPod wiring harness coupling (7) and white 2-pin coupling (12) to the outside through previously drilled hole.
5 Insert grommet (15) into hole.
6 Wrap felt tape (16) around iPod wiring harness (8), beginning at glove compartment (13).
7 Wrap felt tape (17) around iPod interface (6) as shown.
Leave a cutout free for adhesive strips (18) included in package contents.
8 Stick adhesive strips (18) included in package contents, as shown, onto iPod interface (6).
9 Open lock (19) of contact cavity 1 on 2-pin green housing (20 or 22), insert video signal coupling (10) of iPod interface wiring harness (3) in contact cavity 1 and engage lock (19).
For vehicles with 1-pin green housing this has to be replaced by the 2-pin green housing (22) in the installation kit.
10 Remove optical fiber (23) from black 44-pin coupling (1) and install at same position in black 44-pin coupling (4) of wiring harness for iPod interface (3).
Only if optical fiber (23) is installed.
11 Connect black 44-pin plug (2) of iPod interface wiring harness (3) to black 44-pin coupling (1) of vehicle wiring harness.
The black 44-pin coupling (4) and the video signal coupling with the green housing (20 or 22) will be connected to the COMAND controller unit at a later point.
12 Route blue, 18-pin coupling (5) and white, 2-pin connector (11) of wiring harness for iPod interface (3) to right under instrument panel.
13 Wrap iPod interface wiring harness (3) with felt tape.
14 Connect blue, 18-pin coupling (5) of iPod interface wiring harness (3) to iPod interface (6).
15 Remove protective foil from adhesive strip at iPod interface (6) and glue iPod interface (6) to cable duct (24).
16 Fold floor covering (25) to one side and route iPod interface wiring harness (3) behind this.
Do not route line (arrow D) with white 2-pin connector below floor covering (25).
17 Place glove compartment (13) in front passenger footwell.
18 Unclip and remove air duct (27).
19 Connect white 2-pin connector (11) of wiring harness for iPod interface (3) with white 2-pin coupling (12) of wiring harness for iPod (8).
20 Connect black iPod wiring harness coupling (7) of iPod wiring harness (8) at top to iPod interface (6).
21 Fix white 2-pin coupling (12) and white 2-pin connector (11), as shown, in place using felt tape (26) at the iPod interface (6).
22 Install air duct (27)
The glove box (13) will be installed at a later point.
