The upper control panel control unit is located on the center console.

Task
The upper control panel control unit performs the following tasks:
^ Reading in of signals
^ Transmitting signals

Reading in of signals
Signals are read in via the following connection:
^ Instrument panel LIN (LIN 1)

Instrument panel LIN
The upper control panel control unit reads in function feedback requests over the instrument panel LIN. These are sent from the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).

Feedback on the activity of the following functions is provided by the corresponding light-emitting diodes in the buttons on the upper control panel control unit's controls:
- PARKTRONIC (with code (220) PARKTRONIC or with code (230) Exclusive parking assist)
- Front seat heater (with code (873) Heated left and right front seats or with code (401) Front comfort seats, incl. seat heating and seat ventilation)
- Front seat ventilation (with code (401) Front comfort seats, incl. seat heating and seat ventilation)
- Vehicle dynamics (with code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package)
- Airscarf (model 207.4 with code (403) AIRSCARF system)
- ECO start/stop function (model 207.3 as of 1.6.10 with code (B03) ECO start/stop function and model 207.4 with code (B03) ECO start/stop function)

The upper control panel control unit transmits the function requests of integrated buttons via the instrument panel LIN to the front SAM control unit.
