Function requirements for TV mode
^ Circuit 30g ON or circuit 15R ON
^ COMAND controller unit (A40/3) activated via "ON" button
^ "TV" menu item selected under "Video" menu item
^ TV-antenna signals available

TV mode, general
The TV digital tuner (A90/3) enables the vehicle to receive digital television stations and to show them on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8).
The digital TV signals are received through the existing antenna structure.

However it should be noted that the TV digital tuner separates the video and audio signals from each other. The TV mode is therefore comprised as follows:

The TV picture is switched off as from a speed of v = 5 km/h. When the vehicle is moving, only acoustic playback remains active and - for safety reasons - a warning is shown on the Audio/ COMAND display.

The TV functions can be selected, activated and set with the following components:
- Audio/COMAND control panel ()A40/9
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)

Function sequence, TV signal reception
The antenna signals for TV reception are received over the antenna structure in the rear window or windshield, and forwarded over the following antenna amplifier and direct lines to the TV digital tuner:
- TV 1 antenna amplifier (A94/1)
- TV 2 antenna amplifier and KEYLESS GO (A94/2)
- Antenna amplifier TV 3 (A94/3) (model 207.3)
- Antenna amplifier TV 3, FM2 and DAB band III (A2/54) (model 207.4)

Function sequence for video signal
After the TV signals have been processed in the digital TV tuner, the video signals are output as follows:
- Direct Y-brightness (luminance)/C-color data (chrominance) (Y/ C) line
- COMAND control unit
- Low voltage differential signal (LVDS) line
- Audio/COMAND display

Function sequence for audio signal
After the TV signals in the TV digital tuner have been processed, the audio signals are sent over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the COMAND controller unit and on vehicles with code (810) Sound system over MOST to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) and then amplified.
On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the audio signals are output by the COMAND controller unit over the MOST to the sound system amplifier control unit and from there, to the following speakers via direct lines:
- Left door tweeter (H4/1h1)
- Left door bass speaker (H4/1h2)
- Right door tweeter (H4/2h1)
- Right door bass speaker (H4/2h2)
- Left rear tweeter (H4/3h1)
- Left rear bass speaker (H4/3h2)
- Right rear tweeter (H4/4h1)
- Right rear bass speaker (H4/4h2)
- Center dashboard speaker (H4/27)
- Rear shelf bass speaker (H4/29)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)

On vehicles without code (810) Sound system, the audio signals are output over direct lines by the COMAND controller unit to the following speakers:
- Left door tweeter
- Left door bass speaker
- Right door tweeter
- Right door bass speaker
- Left rear tweeter
- Left rear bass speaker
- Right rear tweeter
- Right rear bass speaker

Supplemental information
The digital TV tuner provides the following features:
- Digital image storage
- Last settings
- "Broadcast Markup Language" function:
The TV digital tuner supports videotext for all available Japanese TV stations. This enables information to be shown similar to a small website on weather, news, etc. By selecting a prefecture in the setting list you can obtain regional information.

- "Electronic Program Guide" function:
The Electronic Program Guide shows information on start of program, end of program and detailed information on the television programs for each TV station.

- "Bilingual" function:
Two languages per station availability are supported, e.g. Japanese on the main sound track and English on the sub sound track.
