GF88.79-P-2006CA Passenger-Side Outside Mirror Park Position, Function

GF88.79-P-2006CA Passenger-side Outside Mirror Park Position, Function
- with CODE (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)
- except CODE (494) USA version

Function requirements, general
^ Circuit 15 ON or Circuit 15R ON
^ Position measurement supplies valid readings
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage
^ Vehicle speed v < 10 km/h

The electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) transmits the circuit status c. 15 via the interior CAN (CAN B).
The vehicle speed is provided by the instrument cluster (A1) on the interior CAN.

Function sequence for park position of passenger side outside mirror, general
It is possible to save a park position for the passenger side rear view mirror to which it is then moved electrically when the car is shifted into reverse, allowing the driver to see the curb.

The function of the passenger side outside mirror park position comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Actuate park position function sequence
^ Store park position function sequence
^ Move to drive position function sequence

Actuate park position function sequence
When the transmission is shifted into reverse for t > 0.6 s the right front door control unit (N69/2) adjusts the right mirror glass to the park position using the vertical inclination adjustment actuator motor (M21/2m1) and horizontal inclination adjustment actuator motor (M21/2m2).

Reading status of reverse gear:
- On vehicles with transmission 711 or 716 (manual transmission): The backup lamp switch (S16/2) is read in directly by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). This then transmits the status to the right front door control unit over the interior CAN.

- On vehicles with transmission 722:
The electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) transfers the "reverse gear" status over the drive train CAN (CAN C) to the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (for gasoline engine) or to the CDI control unit (N3/9) (for diesel engine). This signal is then sent over the chassis CAN (CAN E) to the front SAM control unit, which then forwards it over the interior CAN to the right front door control unit.

Additional function requirements for storing park position
^ Reverse gear engaged

Store park position function sequence
First it is necessary to select the right outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s11) and then adjust the right outside rear view mirror (M21/2) manually to the desired parking position with the outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s12). The park position can be stored with the left seat adjustment switch group (S22).
After momentarily pressing the memory switch (S22s6) and then actuating the right outside mirror adjustment switch in any direction within t = 3s, the momentary outside mirror position is stored a the park position in the right front door control unit.
The left front door control unit (N69/1) reads the status of the driver side power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group (S20) over the left door LIN.
(LIN B5).

A manual adjustment of the right outside mirror in the park position is stored as a new park position.

Move to drive position function sequence
The right outside mirror is automatically moved back to the original position when the following conditions are fulfilled:
- Circuit 15 OFF
- Signal for reverse gear not present for approx. t = 10 s.
- The vehicle speed is v > 10 km/h
- The left mirror adjustment switch (S20s10) is actuated

The original position is resumed, even when the right outside mirror has been moved to the park position manually.
