AR01.00-P-2410-02MMB Disconnect Engine Wiring Harness





Only perform operation steps 1 to 12 for removal of the engine.

1 Detach ground line (6) from on-board electrical system battery (G1) and place to one side.

Insulate connecting point for the ground line (6) to avoid intended contact of the detached ground line (6) with the on-board electrical system battery (G1) ground point.

2 Detach positive line (2a) and connection line (2b) from battery sensor from the positive line clamp on the on-board electrical system battery (G1).
3 Detach positive line (2) from on-board electrical system battery (G1)
4 Remove cover from front prefuse box (F32).
5 Detach electrical line (4) on the front prefuse box (F32) and unclip on battery box.
6 Detach engine wiring harness (1) on the bulkhead.

To do this detach rubber seal on bulkhead in the area of the engine wiring harness (1).

7 Lay engine wiring harness (1) on engine.
8 Detach electrical lines (8, 9) on ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).
9 Disconnect electrical line (7) at the electrical connection on engine.
10 Lay electrical lines (7, 9) to the side in the engine compartment.
11.1 Vehicles with 4MATIC: detach ground line (10) on suspension strut tower.
11.2 Vehicles without 4MATIC: detach ground line on rear engine mount.





12 Unclip and disconnect connector for left O2 sensor upstream of CAT (G3/3x1), disconnect connector for right O2 sensor upstream of CAT (G3/4x1), connector for left O2 sensor downstream of CAT (G3/5x1) and connector for right O2 sensor downstream of CAT (G3/6x1) from the retaining clamps on the transmission.





Only perform operation steps 13 to 21 for removal of cylinder head covers or rails.

13 Disconnect electrical connections on the camshaft solenoids (Y49/4, Y49/6 or Y49/5, Y49/7).
14 Disconnect electrical connections on the camshaft Hall sensors (B6/4, B6/6 or B6/5, B6/7).
15 Disconnect electrical connectors at the ignition coils (T1)
16 Disconnect electrical connectors to fuel injectors (Y76)





17 Detach ground line (14) from cylinder head cover
To removal the right cylinder head cover or right rail.

18 Disconnect connector on fuel pressure and temperature sensor (B4/25).
To removal the right cylinder head cover or right rail.

19 Detach engine wiring harness (1) on the rail.
Installation: Ensure correct seating of the retaining clip (13) on the rail.

20 Detach guide rail (15) for engine wiring harness (1) on the cylinder head cover and the intake manifold.
21 Lay engine wiring harness (1) aside.
