Campaign - Replace Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS)

SUBJECT: Model 221, Model Year 2012
Replace Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS)

This Service Campaign has been initiated because DaimlerAG (DAG) has determined that the electronic ignition switch may have been damaged during the production process. Dealers will replace the electronic Ignition switch at the next workshop visit.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.

^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.

Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Approximately 5 vehicles are affected.

Procedure

Note:
^ Use Xentry 09-10/11 with all associated patches or higher.

^ Follow the steps exactly as described in Xentry.

^ Connect battery charger (battery voltage >12.5V).

^ Turn OFF all of the vehicle's electrical consumers.

1. Connect Star Diagnosis to vehicle.

2. Read out data of electronic ignition lock control module.

3. Replace electronic ignition lock control module; refer to WIS: AR80.57-P-10005X.

4. Personalize electronic ignition lock control module: Select menu item "Initial startup" in XENTRY

Note:
^ A programmed workshop key is required.

^ Have orange workshop key A 000 766 96 06 0102(1)) ready.

^ (1) Must be ordered by VIN

5. Read in data of electronic ignition lock control module.

Repairs performed using any other part(s) will not have been performed in accordance with the campaign. Accordingly, warranty claims submitted with reference to an improper part number(s) will be denied.
