Fuel Injection Control System

Fuel Injection System Input/Output Chart:

PURPOSE

The Fuel Injection Control System is designed to take inputs from various sensors and decide how much fuel the engine needs. The system can perform both sequential and simultaneous injection.

OPERATION

Voltage signals from the input sensors are read by the PCM. The PCM will compensate the amount of fuel injected by varying the "ON" time of the injector(s).

Fuel injector "ON" time will INCREASE due to:
- Warming up the engine
- Cranking the engine
- During acceleration
- During high engine load
- When the shift selector is moved from "N" to "D"

Fuel injector "ON" time will DECREASE due to:
- During deceleration
- During cruise
- When the vehicle and/or engine reach a preset speed threshold.

Fuel injection will be SIMULTANEOUS during:
- Cold engine operation
- Heavy Load

Fuel injection will be SEQUENTIAL during:
- Cruise conditions
- Idle
