Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the fuel tank, see Fuel Tank Replacement for the correct procedure.

Fuel Pump Removal:

2. Clean the area around the cover plate.
3. Remove the six cover plate bolts.

CAUTION: The fuel pump MUST be tipped to remove it properly. Do not lift the pump straight out or damage may occur to the sending unit.

4. Lift out the pump and discard the O-ring.

INSTALLATION
1. Install a new fuel pump O-ring.
2. Carefully install the new fuel pump.
3. Install the six fuel pump cover bolts and evenly tighten in a cross-pattern to 18-21 in lb (2.0 2.4 Nm).
4. Install the fuel tank.
5. Start and test drive the vehicle. Verify that there are no leaks or driveability problems.
