Using Scan Tool as a DVOM

Break Out Box Connection:

Follow the procedures below when using the NGS Scan Tool as a DVOM:

1. You do not need to hook up the NGS Data Link Connector to the vehicle Data Link Connector (DLC) unless performing LINK MONITOR during measurement. See note below.
2. Plug the NGS test leads into the NGS Scan Tool measurement ports.
3. Plug the NGS power cable connector into the cigar lighter.

NOTE: The battery can be used instead of the cigar lighter by connecting the battery power hookup adapter to the NGS Scan Tool power cable connector, and hooking up the red and black clips to the vehicle battery terminals.

4. Select DIGITAL MEASUREMENT SYSTEM from the main NGS Scan Tool menu.
5. Select either VOLT METER or OHM METER from the menu.
6. Use the NGS test leads with the appropriate adapter flex tips to take the measurements at the component connector or at the Rotunda Breakout Box 007-00033, or equivalent.
7. Read the measured value at the NGS Scan Tool screen.

NOTE: Follow the procedure listed below to perform LINK MONITOR during measurement:

- Press LINK key (number 7) while in measurement screen display. Link screen display will appear.
- Select LINK MONITOR.
- Select ENGINE (or AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION).
- Select the item(s) to be monitored.
- Press START key (number 6).
