Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

TOT Sensor/Shift Solenoid Assembly:

DESCRIPTION
Transmission Oil Temperature (TOT) Sensor is hard-wired to the valve body wiring harness along with the shift solenoids. All of the shift solenoids, the valve body wiring harness, and the TOT sensor are replaced as an assembly.

OPERATION
The TOT sensor receives a voltage signal which is reduced by the resistance of the sensor in accordance with temperature. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) receives and interprets the voltage signals to determine the transmission oil temperature.
