Rotor Inspection


1. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between slip rings. Resistance reading should be between 2.5-3.6 ohms. If reading is not as specified, replace rotor assembly.
2. Check for continuity between each slip ring and rotor core. If continuity exists, the rotor coil is shorted and should be replaced.
3. If rotor is good and is to be reused, clean slip rings with fine emery paper if they appear grooved or dark.
