Stator Inspection

1. Visually inspect the stator closely for signs of overheating. A burned spot usually indicates a shorted stator winding, and should be replaced.
2. Check for continuity between the stator coil leads. Resistance reading should be between 2.5-3.6 ohms. No continuity between any two leads indicates an open winding. In this case the stator winding should be replaced.
3. Check for continuity between the three stator leads and the core. If continuity exists, a grounded stator winding is indicated, and should be replaced.
