AFTER HAVING BEEN RECENTLY SERVICED
LIGHT TRUCK:
1993-98 VILLAGER
This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to include 1996-98 model year vehicles.
ISSUE
The rear brakes may bind or overheat after having been recently serviced. If the rear brake shoes are manually adjusted during service, the additional action of the self-adjusters may cause the brakes to become overtightened, possibly resulting in binding or overheating.
ACTION
Inspect the rear brakes. If binding or overheating occurs, back off the self-adjusters and reassemble. Refer to the text for details.
Inspect the rear brakes. If binding or overheating has occurred, backing off the self-adjusters will remove the binding condition of the shoes to the brake drums.
The Bendix brake system used on the Villager does not require manual adjustment to gain a firm pedal when shoes are installed. The self-adjusting mechanism will sufficiently adjust the shoes without any manual tightening at the adjuster
