I want to take this opportunity to address the safety recall program which was recently announced to you by Ford Parts and Service Division. This program identifies affected Mercury Villagers for replacement of the fuel filler hose.
Everyone at Lincoln-Mercury Division takes our objective of building Best-In-Class vehicles very seriously. Our target is to produce a perfect vehicle without the need of a single recall campaign. However, now confronted with the fuel filler hose recall, we are responding with these two initiatives:
^ First, your Mercury dealer has received the instructions for servicing your Villager.
^ Second, Lincoln-Mercury Division and your Mercury dealer are prepared to minimize any inconvenience to you in getting your Villager serviced. To accomplish this we have asked your selling dealer to do the following:
- Contact you to arrange a convenient time when a dealership representative can pick up your Villager, at home or work, for service.
- Provide you with a courtesy vehicle while your Villager is at the dealership.
- Service your vehicle according to Ford's authorized procedures.
- Return your Villager to you at home or work.
If you prefer to have your Villager serviced at a Lincoln-Mercury dealership more convenient to you than your selling dealership, please contact the dealership of your choice and request to have your vehicle picked up and the recall serviced performed. Also, if it is more convenient for you to bring your vehicle to a dealership for service rather than to have it picked up, please contact a dealer for an appointment.
