LIGHT TRUCK:
1993 VILLAGER

ISSUE:
A shudder or vibration may occur during the 1-2 upshift only. This generally occurs above 1/2 throttle opening and when the transaxle is at normal operating temperature. This is caused by line pressure fluctuations during the shift.

ACTION:
Replace the existing valve body with a modified valve body and install a new transaxle oil pan gasket. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Confirm that transaxle was built before 11/92 and has a serial number less than 4Y59142. Refer to Figure 1 for the transaxle serial number location. Refer to Figure 2 for I.D. tag codes

2. Perform the 4F20E (automatic transaxle) Quick Test, per Section 5B-30 of the 1993 Villager Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Service Manual. Repair accordingly.

3. If the concern still exists, remove the valve body. Refer to the 1993 Villager Service Manual, Page 07-01-37, for the removal procedure.

4. Install a new valve body (F3XY-7A100-D) and transaxle oil pan gasket (F3XY-7A191-A). Refer to the 1993 Villager Service Manual, Page 07-01-38, for the installation procedure.
