Glove Box Latch - Loose

Article No.: 94-8-11

INTERIOR TRIM - GLOVE BOX LATCH IS LOOSE OR MISSING MOUNTING SCREWS - VEHICLES BUILT FROM 4/13/92 THROUGH 11/1/92

LIGHT TRUCK:
1993 VILLAGER

ISSUE:
The glove box latch may be loose and/or the latch mounting screws may be loose or missing. This condition may be due to the oil finish on the mounting screws not being compatible with the plastic bosses inside the glove box lid bezel, causing the plastic to weaken and break.

ACTION:
Replace the latch assembly, using the new screws supplied which have a non-oil finish. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Remove the glove box latch assembly.

2. Install new latch assembly (F3XY-1206072-A) using the new screws supplied with the latch.

NOTE:
DO NOT RE-USE THE ORIGINAL SCREWS. THE OIL FINISH ON THEM WILL CAUSE THE PLASTIC TO WEAKEN AND CRACK AGAIN. THE NEW SCREWS SUPPLIED HAVE A NON-OIL FINISH.
