BRAKES - REAR - BINDING AND/OR OVERHEATING
AFTER HAVING BEEN RECENTLY SERVICED
LIGHT TRUCK:
1993-95 VILLAGER
ISSUE:
The rear brakes may bind or overheat after having been recently serviced. If the rear brake shoes are manually adjusted during service, the additional action of the self-adjusters may cause the brakes to become overtightened, possibly resulting in binding or overheating.
ACTION:
Inspect the rear brakes. If binding or overheating occurs, back off the self-adjusters and reassemble. Refer to the following text for details.
Inspect the rear brakes. If binding or overheating has occurred, backing off the self-adjusters will remove the binding condition of the shoes to the brake drums.
The Bendix brake system used on the Villager does not require manual adjustment to gain a firm pedal when shoes are installed. The self-adjusting mechanism will sufficiently adjust the shoes without any manual tightening at the adjuster.
