ISSUE:
A "crunching/grunting" noise may be heard from the rear of the vehicle while going over bumps. The noise may be more audible in cold ambient temperatures. This may be caused by the rear leaf spring bushing floating within the leaf spring shackle end.
ACTION:
Replace the rear spring shackle and rubber bushing. The new shackle and bushing should reduce the possibility of noise. Refer to the 1996 Villager Service Manual, Page 04-02-4, for removal and installation procedures.
NOTE:
TIGHTEN THE REAR SPRING FRONT NUT TO 89-104 N.m (66-77 LB-FT) AT CURB HEIGHT.
