ISSUE:
A "squeaking" noise may be heard while turning. This may be caused by a dry intermediate shaft bushing/housing seal interface or a dry input shaft seal on the steering rack.

INSPECTION

1. Identify the source of the noise.

a. Listen near the intermediate shaft bearing/housing seal area for noise while turning the steering wheel back and forth.

b. If the intermediate bearing/housing seal area is quiet, continue turning the steering wheel back and forth and listen for a noise from the steering rack.
