Ford Motor Company is providing a no-charge Service Program, Number 94B39, to owners of certain 1993 Model Year Mercury Villagers.
REASON FOR THIS PROGRAM
Structural components referred to as door guard beams are installed in the side doors of your Villager. Following repeated door closings, the beams of the driver and front passenger doors may detach from the rest of the door structure. This may result in rattling noises from inside one or both of the doors.
The side door guard beams were installed on your Villager in anticipation of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 214, "Side Impact Protection", in advance of its effective date for Villager-type vehicles. The purpose of the standard is to specify crashworthiness requirements for protection of vehicle occupants in certain lower-speed side impact crashes. So that each of these side door guard beams may remain fully effective and securely attached to the Villager as intended by the manufacturer, Ford Motor Company wishes to install supplementary fasteners to the beams of the front doors.
NO CHARGE SERVICE
At no charge to you, your dealer will reinforce or reattach the door beams on your vehicle as appropriate.
Affected vehicles are eligible for this program through June 30, 1995, regardless of mileage. (After June 30, 1995, a vehicle is still eligible for this program if it is within the 36 month / 36,000 mile Bumper-to-Bumper warranty).
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
The time needed for this service is about one (1) hour. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your vehicle for a full working day.
CALL YOUR DEALER
Ask for a service date and whether parts are in stock.
If your dealer does not have the parts in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your service date. Parts would be expected to arrive within a week.
When you bring your vehicle in, show the dealer this letter.
If you misplace this letter, your dealer will still do the work, free of charge.
REFUNDS
If you paid to have this service done before the date of this letter, Ford is offering a full refund. For the refund, please give your paid work-order to your Lincoln-Mercury dealer.
CHANGED ADDRESS OR SOLD THE VILLAGER?
Please fill out the enclosed prepaid postcard and mail it to us if you have changed your address or sold the Villager.
