Heated Glass Element: Description and Operation
OPERATIONFuse 13 (Electron Bat) in the I/P Fuse/Relay Panel applies voltage at all times to the Timer Module. When the Ignition Switch is in "START" or "RUN", voltage is applied to the Timer Module, the RR Defogger Switch, and the Liftgate Defroster Relay from Fuse 20 (Rly Coil) in the I/P Fuse/Relay Panel. Voltage is also applied at all times to the Liftgate Defroster Relay from Fuses 15 and 16 (Rear Defog) in the I/P Fusel Relay Panel.
When the RR Defogger Switch depressed, ground is applied to the Timer Module. The Timer Module then applies ground to the Liftgate Defroster Relay and the RR Defogger Switch for 10 to 15 minutes. The On Indicator illuminates inside the RR Defogger Switch and the Liftgate Defroster Relay energizes and applies voltage to the Liftgate Defroster Grid. Then the Liftgate Defroster Grid heats up and defrosts the rear window for 10 to 15 minutes.
Pressing the RR Defogger Switch while the system is on interrupts the on cycle and the system turns off.
