Erasing Memory Codes

The Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are erased in one of the following methods:


Erasing Codes by Battery Disconnect


When the negative battery terminal is disconnected, the DTCs will be lost from the backup memory after 24 hours.






Erasing Codes Using Jumper Wire

When using the diagnostic connector to activate the MIL for the DTCs, erase the DTCs using the following procedure:

(1) Activate the Diagnostic Test Mode.

(2) Disconnect the diagnostic connector.

(3) Jump the BL/W wire and the GY/BL wire together at the diagnostic connector. Refer to the illustration after Quick Test.

(4) Wait two seconds.

(5) Remove the jumper wire and reconnect the diagnostic connector.

(6) The MIL will now stay on momentarily, and the DTCs will be erased.
