System Configuration
The electrical components of the fuel system (injectors, fuel pump and fuel pump relay) are controlled by the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) computer/Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The operation of the control circuits are discussed in COMPUTERS AND CONTROL SYSTEMS.
The fuel system is designed to allow delivery of a precise amount of air/fuel mixture in response to the throttle valve opening and engine operating conditions. The fuel system consists of the following components:
^ Accelerator pedal
^ Air cleaner
^ Fuel filter
^ Fuel injectors
^ Fuel pressure regulator
^ Fuel pump
^ Fuel pump relay
^ Fuel supply lines
^ Fuel return lines
^ Fuel tank
^ Idle Air Control Valves
^ Inertia Switch (for fuel pump cut off)
^ Intake air plenum
^ Intake air hoses
^ Throttle chamber
^ Throttle cable
