FA9 Check Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch

^ Key OFF.

^ Disconnect and remove the inertia fuel shutoff switch from the vehicle.

^ Sharply shake the inertia fuel shutoff switch to verify that the switch trips.

^ Measure the resistance of the inertia fuel shutoff switch terminals "BK/W" and "BK" under the following conditions:

Switch Position Resistance

Open (tripped) Greater than 10,000 ohms

Closed (set) Less than 5 ohms

^ Are the resistances OK, and does the switch trip when shaken sharply?

YES -- GO to FA10. FA10 Check Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch Ground

NO -- REPLACE the inertia fuel shutoff switch.
