Fastening Front and Rear Lap/Shoulder Safety Belts

FRONT
After entering the vehicle, adjust the front seat to obtain the best position for driving comfort, access to controls and visibility. Then, use the following procedure for fastening safety belts.

1. To fasten the front lap safety belt, pull the belt out of the retractor and bring it across the lap.

2. Insert the front safety belt tongue into the front safety belt buckle end until it snaps and locks into place.

REAR

The second row two-passenger bench seat has a safety restraint system made up of two buckles and two tongues. There is an anchor location at the bottom of the C-pillar and another anchor location at the top of the C-pillar that attach each end of the safety belt webbing. One of the safety belt tongues has two holes and the other has only one hole.

The safety belt tongue with two holes should be pulled across the chest and fastened to the rear safety belt and buckle mounted in the standard location in the middle of the seat. The safety belt tongue with one hole should be fastened to the auxiliary buckle at the side of the middle seat.

NOTE: If the three-passenger bench seat is moved up to the second row position, the outside passenger (near the body side door) only needs to use the two hole safety belt tongue and the standard rear safety belt and buckle. Because the three-passenger seat is wider and is closer to the body side door, the one hole safety belt tongue and the auxiliary buckle are not necessary.

To fasten the third row and LH second row combination lap/shoulder belts, pull the safety belt across the shoulder and chest. Insert the safety belt tongue into the correct rear safety belt and buckle until it snaps and locks into place.

To fasten the rear seat center belt, pull the belt across the hips and insert the tongue into the correct buckle until it snaps and locks into place.
