Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
1. Verify customer concern by operating the passive restraint system.2. Visually inspect the components of the system.
VISUAL INSPECTION CHART
Mechanical
- Front seat shoulder strap carrier binding in track
- Shoulder belt retractor binding
Electrical
- Blown fuse(s):
^ 15A ROOM LAMP
^ 10A METER
^ 10A ELECTRON IGN
^ 30A POWER WINDOW
^ LH CIRCUIT BREAKER
- Vehicle electrical system not operating normally
- Loose or corroded connections
- Inertia fuel shutoff switch tripped
3. If the front seat shoulder strap carrier Will not return to the front body pillar (A-pillar), verify that the inertia fuel shutoff switch has not been tripped.
4. Check the wiring harness and connectors for signs of obvious damage.
5. If the problem is not visually evident, determine the symptom observed and proceed to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
