Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch: Description and Operation

Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch:

PURPOSE
Shuts off fuel if the vehicle is in a collision.

LOCATION
Behind the trim panel below the hood release handle.

OPERATION
The Fuel Pump Control System has a redundant shut-off feature. An Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch automatically shuts off fuel if the vehicle is in a collision.

The collision does NOT have to be great to trigger the switch. A parking lot bump or large pot hole could set it. The switch is reset by pressing the red button on the top.
