Safing Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL





The center console primary crash/safing front air bag sensor and bracket is located behind the storage bin.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait 10 minutes for the backup power supply energy to be depleted.

WARNING: THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE ANY AIR BAG COMPONENT SERVICE IS PERFORMED. TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT 10 MINUTES.





2. Remove the four storage bin screws and the storage bin.





3. Remove the two heater outlet floor duct screws and the heater outlet floor duct.





4. Disconnect the center console primary crash/safing front air bag sensor electrical connector.





5. Remove the three center console primary crash/safing front air bag sensor bolts.
6. Remove the center console primary crash/safing front air bag sensor and bracket.





INSTALLATION
To install, position the center console primary crash/safing front air bag sensor and bracket with the arrow on the top pointing towards the front of the vehicle, and reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the center console primary crash/safing front air bag sensor bolts to 15-25 Nm (11-18 lb-ft). Verify that the air bag warning indicator is operative.
