Initial Inspection

1. Verify customer concern by driving the vehicle.

2. Visually inspect the components of the Antilock Brake System (ABS).

Mechanical
- Low brake fluid

- Damaged brake antilock sensor

- Damaged hydraulic antilock actuator assembly

- Damaged hydraulic brake tube(s)

- Damaged wheel bearing

Electrical
- Blown fuse(s):

- 10A RELAYS

- 15A STOP LAMP

- 10A METER

- 20A ABS

- 30A ABS

- Blown antilock brake warning indicator miniature bulb

- Damaged wiring harness

- Loose or corroded connections

3. Check the hydraulic brake tubes for fluid leaks.

4. Check for problems in other areas that may affect the ABS, such as:

- Suspension and steering components

- Tire integrity and air pressure

- Wheel bearings

- Brake components that are common to all brake systems

5. Check the wiring harness for obvious signs of shorts, opens, bad connections, or damage.

6. If fault is not visually evident, determine the symptom and refer to Diagnosis by Symptom. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
