Cruise Control: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION
The speed control system is designed to automatically maintain vehicle speed at any driver-selected speed above approximately 30 mph and below 125 mph. The system is comprised of an electronic servo which consists of a throttle actuator with integrated electronics and other parts including the actuator cable, amplifier, horn relay, driver control switches, a brake lamp switch, a deactivator switch and a clutch switch for manual transmission vehicles. The speed signal is generated either by the Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module (PSOM) or the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). The electronic servo is mounted in the lefthand rear corner of the engine compartment and is connected to the throttle linkage with an actuator cable. The VSS is mounted on the transaxle.

OPERATION
To operate the speed control system, the engine must be running and the vehicle speed must exceed 30 mph. When the On-Off switch is actuated, the system is ready to accept a set speed signal. With the On switch engaged and vehicle speed at least 30 mph and stable, depress the Set-Acc button. This speed will be maintained until the brake pedal is depressed, the system is turned off or a new speed has been set.
