Fluid - A/T: Service and Repair
FLUID CHANGENOTE: Normal vehicle maintenance and lubrication does not require periodic transaxle fluid changes. If major service is required, the transaxle fluid must be drained.
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Clean transaxle oil pan around transaxle drain plug.
3. Measure amount of transaxle fluid drained to aid in refilling.
4. Remove transaxle drain plug and drain fluid into suitable container. Discard drain plug gasket.
5. Remove 21 transaxle oil pan bolts, then the oil pan and gasket. Discard oil pan bolts and gasket. Mark location of both oil pan magnets during removal. Magnets must be installed in the same locations to ensure proper solenoid operation.
6. Remove and clean both oil pan magnets.
7. Clean transaxle oil pan and remove any old gasket material from mating surface.
8. Remove transaxle oil filter bolts and the transaxle oil filter. Remove oil filter and gasket.
9. Install new transaxle oil filter and gasket. Torque oil filter bolts to 62-79 in lbs.
10. Install two oil pan magnets in positions marked before removal.
11. Install new oil pan gasket, then install transaxle oil pan. Torque new oil pan bolts to 62-79 in lbs.
12. Install transaxle drain plug and new drain plug gasket. Torque drain plug to 22-29 ft lbs.
13. Lower vehicle, then fill transaxle with appropriate fluid.
