Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Description and Operation

Idle Air Control-Fast Idle Control (IAC-FIC) Assembly:

PURPOSE
The Idle Air Control (IAC) solenoid is used to control the idle speed to a preset level determined by various conditions and loads.

LOCATION
The IAC solenoid is part of the IAC-FIC assembly, which is mounted to the back of the intake plenum top side.

OPERATION
The IAC solenoid is controlled by an on/off pulse from the PCM. The longer the PCM pulse is left on, the larger the amount of air that will flow into the engine.
