Water or dust in the front suspension steering ball stud dust seals will affect the operation and durability of the steering gear, including the front wheel spindle tie rods.

CAUTION: Front suspension steering ball stud dust seals must be handled carefully to avoid damage. Use new clamps when installing front suspension steering ball stud dust seals.

Inspect the front suspension steering ball stud dust seals at the locations shown on the following diagram for cracks, cuts, deterioration, twisting, and distortion. Check the front suspension steering ball stud dust seal clamps to make sure they are tight. If either of the front suspension steering ball stud dust seals fails the inspection, replace them.
