^ NOISE - "HISSING" FROM UPPER B-PILLAR AREA

LIGHT TRUCK:
1996-97 VILLAGER

ISSUE:
A "hissing" noise sounding like a window is slightly open, from the upper B-pillar area on the driver's side, may occur on some vehicles. This may be due to the window run rubber not fitting in the channel tightly at the upper rear corner of the front left door.

ACTION:
Install a piece of foam rope in the door run rubber channel at the upper B-pillar area. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Lower the front door glass and inspect the glass run rubber from the outside and inside to assure it is fully seated in the channel, specifically at the B-pillar area. If properly seating the glass run rubber does not resolve the concern, then proceed to Step 2.

2. Remove only the top rear corner of the front door run rubber by carefully pulling it straight oft the door.

3. Install a piece of foam rope/cord (5 mm in diameter by 150 mm long) in the groove that attaches the run rubber to the door run channel. Carefully tuck the foam rope/cord beneath the locking legs of the glass channel lip. The foam rope/cord should extend approximately 30 mm past the splice line on the moulding (Figure 1).

4. Reinstall the run rubber. Special emphasis should be placed on fully seating the rib of the glass run rubber to the notch of the door panel (Figure 2).
