ISSUE

The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P0120, P0510, P0731, P0732, and/or P0733 may be stored in memory with no driveability/transaxle shifting concerns. This may be caused by the Throttle Position (TP) sensor. During coastdown from above 64 km/h (40 mph), the idle switch is on indicating a closed throttle valve and the Transaxle Control Module (TCM) senses a TP voltage increase. This process, along with a decrease in engine rpm and vehicle speed, may trigger/set the code. These codes may be stored with no driveability or automatic transaxle shift quality concerns.

ACTION

Replace the TP sensor with a revised TP sensor. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the TP sensor following the procedure in the 1997 Villager Service Manual, Section 03-14.

2. Install the revised TP sensor and adjust the output voltage of the TP sensor with the throttle fully closed following the procedure in Section 03-14 of the Service Manual.
