Windshield Washer System
Fig. 1 Front Wiper System:
In the front wiper system the windshield wiper motor is located in the engine compartment and is directly connected to the wiper linkage. The windshield wiper motor is a two-speed permanent magnet motor with a brush rigging, permitting the selection of low or high speed.
The windshield wiper/washer control knob on the multi-function switch controls the interval wiper function. When the control knob is in any position in the S-F range, the wipers make single wipes. The wipe cycle is timed by the desired pause set within the S-F range.
The windshield wiper governor is wired in series between the multi-function switch and the wiper motor. It operates as a timer mechanism for the interval wiper function. It is located on the lefthand strut tower, directly below the hood support rod pivot.
