Flow of Diagnosis

INSPECTION AND VERIFICATION




Special Tool


1. Verify the customer concern.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage:

Mechanical
^ Damaged lock cylinder.
^ Damaged ignition cylinder Damaged hood switch.

Electrical
^ Failed fuse(s).
^ Damaged wiring harness.
^ Loose or corroded connections.
^ Damaged switch(es).
^ Damaged relay(s).

3. If the inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily repaired, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
4. If the concern remains after the inspection, use New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC) to retrieve continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and to execute Self-Test Diagnostics for the Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module. Also, enter PID/DATA monitor and record to retrieve the last alarm triggers. Record all eight AL_EVTs.
^ If the self-test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
^ If DTCs are retrieved, go to the Remote Anti-Theft Personality Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
^ If the Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module cannot be accessed by the NGS Tester, go to Pinpoint Test D. Test D: No Module Communication With RAP Module
