Cooling System: Description and Operation

The engine cooling system consists of the:

^ Engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT sensor).
^ Fan blade.
^ Fan clutch.
^ Fan shroud.
^ Radiator.
^ Radiator cap.
^ Radiator coolant recovery reservoir.
^ Water thermostat.
^ Water pump.
^ Water temperature indicator sender unit.

The engine cooling system uses a coolant recovery system that allows the addition or removal of coolant as needed. Heat created by the engine's operation must be controlled to keep the engine from overheating and yet allow the engine to maintain an efficient operating temperature.
