Installation
1. Position the steering column and install the lower nuts.
2. Install the steering column support.
(1) Install the steering column support.
(2) Install the nuts.
3. On automatic transmission vehicles, connect the shift cable to the steering column.
(1) Connect the shift cable to the steering column instrument panel bracket.
(2) Connect the shift cable to the shift tube lever.
4. Install the steering column shaft bolt.
5. On automatic transmission vehicles, install the transmission range indicator.
(1) Install the indicator cable.
(2) Tighten the bolt.
6. Connect the ignition switch electrical connector.
7. Connect the electrical connectors.
8. Install the instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement.
(1) Position the instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement.
(2) Install the screws.
9. Install the instrument panel steering column cover.
(1) Position the instrument panel steering column cover.
(2) Install the two screws.
10. Install the hood latch release handle.
^ Position the hood latch release handle and install the screws.
11. Install the parking brake release handle.
(1) Position the parking brake release handle.
(2) Install the screws.
12. Install the driver side air bag module.
(1) Connect the air bag sliding contact electrical connector.
(2) Connect the remaining electrical connector(s).
(3) Position the driver side air bag module.
(4) Install the screws.
13. Connect the battery cables.
(1) Connect the battery to starter relay cable.
(2) Connect the battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.
