Replacement
REMOVAL1. Loosen the lug nuts.
(1) Remove the center cap.
(2) With the weight of the vehicle on the wheels, loosen the lug nuts.
CAUTION: Do not use heat to loosen a seized lug nut. Heat can damage the wheel and wheel bearings.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM MUST BE SHUT OFF PRIOR TO HOISTING, JACKING OR TOWING AN AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLE. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY TURNING OFF THE AIR SUSPENSION SWITCH LOCATED IN THE REAR JACK STORAGE AREA. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN UNEXPECTED INFLATION OR DEFLATION OF THE AIR SPRINGS WHICH MAY RESULT IN SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE DURING THESE OPERATIONS.
3. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
(1) Remove the lug nuts.
(2) Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
4. Use Hi-Lift Jack to support the rear axle.
5. Separate the rear spring from the rear axle.
(1) Remove the four rear spring U-bolt nuts.
(2) Remove the two U-bolts.
(3) Position the rear spring plate aside.
6. Remove the rear shackle to spring lower bolt.
7. Remove the (A) rear spring to front frame bracket bolt and nut, and remove the (B) rear spring.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the rear spring to front frame bracket bolt and nut hand tight.
(1) Position the rear spring to the front frame bracket.
(2) Install the rear spring to front frame bracket bolt and nut hand tight.
2. Install the rear spring shackle lower bolt and nut hand tight.
(1) Position the rear spring to the rear spring shackle.
(2) Install the rear spring shackle lower bolt and nut hand tight.
3. Install the rear spring plate.
(1) Position the rear spring plate underneath the spring.
(2) Install the two U-bolts.
(3) Install the four rear spring U-bolt nuts.
4. Lower Hi-Lift Jack.
5. Install the front wheel and tire assembly.
(1) Install the wheel and tire assembly.
(3) Install the lug nuts and lower the vehicle.
(3) Tighten the lug nuts.
(4) Install the center cap.
NOTE: If equipped with air suspension, reactivate the system by turning on the air suspension switch.
6. Tighten the rear spring to front frame bracket bolt and nut to specification.
7. Tighten the rear spring shackle lower bolt and nut to specification.
